My book of the month: Life of Pi

Life of Pi is the book that won the French-Canadian Yann Martel the 2002 Men Booker Prize. It is a very popular book. If you haven’t read it yet, do so. It is an enchanting story about a young Indian boy who is cast adrift in a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutang, a zebra and a huge Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Pi’s journey is full of fascinating survival scenes, witty sense of humour and beautiful metaphors. This is a story where faith and science clash but also co-exist at the same time. It is a tale about mortality, faith, human determination and the power of nature. Yann Martel proves to be a great storyteller, blending facts and fiction in a beautiful fable that challenges you to believe the unbelievable.
